CBCOEM THANKS AND CONGRATULATES JEFF GUNTER

After twenty years of service to the Cleveland/Bradley County Office of Emergency Management and citizens of Bradley County, Jeff Gunter has announced his retirement as Deputy Director of CBCOEM effective August 6th, 2026.
Jeff started with CBCOEM, at the time called Bradley County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), in June of 2006 after 25 years of service in the United States Army where retired as a First Sergeant (1SG). He served in several combat zones during his service, and earned two Bronze Stars, four Meritorious Service Medals, six Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, three Southwest Asia Service Medals, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, Korean Service Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Drill Sergeant Identification Badge. Jeff is best known for his no-nonsense attitude, extremely broad skillset, and his strong sense of duty. Our agency thanks him for 20 years of honorable service and wishes him the best in his retirement. |

The mission of the Cleveland-Bradley County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security is to plan, prepare, and respond to natural and manmade disasters by providing the highest level of emergency preparedness to the citizens of Cleveland, Charleston, and Bradley County as they face emerging threats in the 21st century. Working as interagency coordinators in partnership with local, state, federal, and private entities, we provide comprehensive emergency response in addition to hazard planning, training resources, and disaster mitigation.
Disasters and threats can strike at anytime and anywhere. Threats take many forms, whether a hurricane, tornado, flood, a fire or a hazardous spill, an act of nature, or an act of terrorism. Disasters and threats may build over days or weeks, or may occur without warning. Every year, millions of Americans face disasters and their negative impacts. Our hope is that you will find this site useful in finding information that can help prepare you and your family on the types of emergencies and hazards that our community may face. |

ID cards are issued by appointment only. Please call (423) 819-4204 to schedule.
